Voyager

311 came up in conversation yesterday when my bandmate—yes, folks, I'm officially in a band—asked me who I've seen in concert. Naturally, 311 came up. I had seen them along with Pennywise and Sublime a few years back in Tampa. After the echoes of the conversation reverberated in my mind, I decided to revisit 311 since I haven't had them on rotation in awhile. Much to my (very pleasant!) surprise, they had a new album come out in 2019 titled Voyager. And even better than that? The songs are super positive. I mean, really uplifting! I wasn't expecting that. Not that 311 is a depressing band (I save that for my boys Depeche Mode), but man, these lyrics will help you feel better, and what could be better than that?

So, I would love to share with you, dear readers, some songs from the new album that I hope you'll enjoy. And as I create my own music, I am reminded of the power of positive lyrics. Thanks for the reminder, 311. You are stand-up gentlemen in my eyes.

The crazy part? These songs could have been written this year. The message remains the same: things might look down, but continue looking up, because a storm or season cannot last forever.

311: "Born To Live"

311: "Good Feeling"

This last one reminds me of my children's book, Harper The Hopper. She is trying her best to dodge raindrops. Check her out on Amazon!
