The Monkees & Linda Ronstandt

The Monkees started out as a group of actors in a fictional rock band; however, they wanted to gain legitimacy, so they wrote their own songs. One song, written by guitarist Mike Nesmith, was rejected to be recorded by The Monkees but ending up being record by The Stone Poneys— Linda Ronstandt's band (fun fact: a friend told me my singing/songwriting reminds him of her).
