Sondheim

A musical theatre legend. A genius. A composer who left his mark on Broadway...

Stephen Sondheim, one of Broadway's greatest composers has passed away at the age of 91. His scores are often complex and hauntingly beautiful. As a musical theatre performer, I was fortunate to play Susan in one of his shows, Company, and quickly realized just how intricate his scores truly are. It was the most difficult music to learn, with tight, intricate, interesting harmonies... One of my dream roles is in his musical Assassins, and I sincerely hope to play it someday. All of his musicals are an honor for any actor to grace the stage and sing the beautiful lines and soaring melodies.

Thank you, Stephen Sondheim, for your legacy, your art, your contributions to the musical theatre world. You will be deeply missed. Broadway shines a little less bright tonight.

Into The Woods: "Children Will Listen"
