Foreshadowing Demise

Somehow this album found its way to me during my divorce...and I painted the brilliantly foreboding cover, which, if you're in central FL,  will be up for auction at a charity event (even this many years later). Can't think of a more beautiful way to turn my pain into beauty...and love...

But back to the album: this particular song always struck me with its lyrics of foreshadowing demise:

Not to mention, how brilliantly Martin Gore made his synth sound like raindrops. Or perhaps this Depeche Mode fan let her imagination run wild. One can never quite tell...
